Want to learn more about Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD)? Our team is available to connect with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners through a variety of outreach opportunities. Whether you're planning an event, resource fair, staff training, or group presentation, SSD is here to help.

Submit an Outreach and Engagement Request to invite SSD to participate in your event or presentation. We also offer a variety of educational presentations designed to increase awareness of disability services, accommodations, and student support resources at Virginia Tech.

SSD 101

This 20 to 30-minute presentation provides a general overview of what SSD does. Presenters will review types of disabilities, basic information about the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the process of requesting accommodations and connecting with SSD, give examples of accommodations, explain confidentiality and services beyond accommodations, and answer audience questions.

Prospective Students

Learn about SSD at Virginia Tech, the laws that support access for students with disabilities, and the key differences between receiving accommodations in K-12 and in higher education. This session is designed to help participants better understand disability services and the transition to college.
