Employee Spotlight

Sarah Hardin

Sarah is an Access Specialist serving the College of Architecture, Arts and Design and the College of Engineering. She is a valued member of the SSD team who consistently steps in to provide support wherever it is needed. Sarah’s recent contributions in supporting an event in the SSD office were instrumental to its success. She is a wonderful colleague and a strong advocate for students with disabilities.

Sarah’s favorite Hokie tradition is taking the Hokie Walk before football games.


Announcements and Reminders

  • Summer letter requests are open. Students can request accommodations for their summer classes using the AIM student dashboard. Visit the AIM Student Hub for more information and to access AIM.
  • SSD remains open to offer support during summer classes. The front office will close daily from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for the lunch hour.
  • The Werth Testing Center will be open Monday - Friday from 8:15 a.m. to  4 p.m.

The Graham Stedman Neal Diabetes Scholarship

Funded by Virginia Tech, the Graham Stedman Neal Diabetes Fund provides program/scholarship support for accommodations, services, and resources for students whose lives have been impacted by type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, or other autoimmune diseases.

On July 2, 2023, the Neal Family lost their 35-year-old son and brother, Graham Stedman Neal, from complications due to Type 1 diabetes, specifically from diabetic ketoacidosis. In honor of Graham, the Neal Family has created the Graham Stedman Neal Diabetes Endowment to provide financial assistance and encouragement to college students impacted by diabetes.

The application for the Graham Stedman Neal Diabetes Scholarship closes on June 30, 2026.

Professional Coaches and Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) are trained to help students develop their academic skills and performance through individual coaching appointments and group presentations for the Seminar Series on Academic Success.
