Student Success Center Academic Coaching-Did you know the Student Success Center offers Professional and Peer Academic Coaching? Do you struggle with executive function issues? Professional Coaches and Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) are trained to help students develop their academic skills and performance through individual coaching appointments and group presentations for the Seminar Series on Academic Success. Kristin Hylton was the winner of the 2025 Sally Bohland Award for Innovative Service.

Kristin Hylton is the communications and community programming specialist at the Reynolds Homestead, and outreach facility of Virginia Tech located in Critz, Virginia. In this role, she supports current offerings while also developing new initiatives that are accessible, engaging, and responsive to the needs of the rural communities in and around Patrick County. She has a strong background in nonprofit, community-based organizations and is passionate about crafting authentic narratives that highlight the value of events and programs, fostering deeper connections between the homestead and the communities it serves. 

Guopeng Cheng was the winner of the 2025 Sally Bohland Award for Exceptional Leadership.

Guopeng Cheng is a Collegiate Assistant Professor of Consumer Studies in the School of Design at Virginia Tech. He teaches Consumer and Family Finances, Financial Counseling, and Debtor–Creditor Relationships. His research interests include teaching pedagogy, household finance, and financial literacy, and he has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. He is both an Accredited Financial Counselor® and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®

The Buzz's Bunch Scholarship

  • Brent “Buzz” Williams, Virginia Tech Basketball Coach 2014-2019, established this scholarship for undergraduates in any field of study who are connected with Services for Students with Disabilities. Application closes January 22, 2026.

  • The Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Newsletter is distributed monthly to students and faculty. This newsletter serves as a communication tool for our office to share important resources and updates.
