Academic Coaching

a student receiving academic coaching

The Academic Coaching Program supports students with disabilities who are connected to the Services for Students with Disabilities office. The academic coach works with students with disabilities to create individualized plans to work on their academic goals.

Academic coaching is not offered based on the time an application is submitted. Students who are academically at risk, such as students on Policy 91, academic probation, returning from academic suspension, newly diagnosed with a disability, or students not able to perform at their highest capacity due to disability symptoms may be selected for the Academic Coaching Program. The academic coach works with between 20-25 students during the fall and spring semesters.

Students learn and develop such strategies as the ones listed below.

·       Utilization of study schedules

·       Time management

·       Collaboration

·       Study strategies

·       How to identify and access other campus resources

Applications may be submitted at any time during the year. Please complete an academic coaching application at this link SSD Academic Coaching Application.

Applications will be reviewed and students notified two weeks before the start of each semester, and then on a rolling basis as space becomes available.

If you have any questions contact the academic coach at ssdcoaching@vt.edu.
